EarWitness

> privacy policy

EarWitness makes one promise: everything runs on your device. The app listens through your microphone to test whether a nearby sound repeats, analyzes it in the moment, and then discards it. It has no servers, no account, and no way to send your audio anywhere.

the microphone

To detect a loop, EarWitness has to hear the sound around you, so it asks for microphone access.

While a session is running, audio is read into memory and analyzed live for a repeating pattern. It is never written to disk on its own, never retained after the session ends, and never transmitted off your iPhone. When you stop, the audio is gone.

the app's own permission prompt reads: "EarWitness uses the microphone to listen for looped white-noise patterns from a noise machine."

files you create

If you choose to export a detected loop or save a raw recording, EarWitness writes an audio file (m4a or wav) to the location you pick on your device. That file belongs to you. The app does not upload it, copy it elsewhere, or send it to us — exporting is a local action, entirely under your control.

files you analyze

EarWitness can also run an existing recording through the same detector for offline validation. A file you point it at is read and analyzed locally on your device and is never uploaded.

what we collect

Nothing.

There is no account to create and no sign-in. EarWitness does not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or device identifiers, and it contains no advertising or analytics software that would track how you use it. Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to sell, share, or lose — reflected in the app's "Data Not Collected" label on the App Store.

third parties

No third-party advertising networks, analytics providers, or tracking SDKs are built into the app. Your use of EarWitness is not shared with anyone, because there is no mechanism to share it.

children

EarWitness is rated for all ages and is safe for children to use. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.

if this policy changes

If a future version of EarWitness changes how information is handled, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date below will change to match. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
